Do you love science?
Test tubes with polymers inside are a great way to learn about chemistry and do experiments. Instructions included. Educational toy for lovers of science!
Learn more about the different polymers, how they react with each other, and what happens when you mix them together. You’ll be amazed at all the cool things that can happen in just one test tube! And best of all, it’s easy to clean up afterwards because these tubes are made out of plastic instead of glass. No broken glass means no mess!
Viscoelastic Slime
What happens
When you add the water to the polymers in the slime powder, it helps link the polymer molecules together. When enough of the molecules get hooked together, the solution changes into slime!
Slime is a non-Newtonian matter – it’s neither a solid, liquid or gas. Instead it’s a sheer-thickening fluid so its viscosity decreases under stress. When you apply pressure, it becomes more solid.
Colours available green, pink and yellow - chosen at random when purchasing online.
Polymer Snow
This incredible superabsorbent polymer erupts in seconds in water. It can absorb many times its weight in water and grow up to 40 times its size. The cross-linked molecules have a high sodium content attracting water into the polymer system through a process called osmosis. Leave the snow to dry out and it is reusable.
Bouncing Ball
When the powder mixes with water, it starts a reaction that hooks the powders molecules together. It’s these liked polymers that make the ball solid and allow it to bounce.
Ferromagnetic Fluid
Ferrofluid is a liquid that has become magnetised through a magnetic field. Magnetic fields will react with other materials that are reactive to a magnetic force.
